Alumni Spotlight – Jill (Saphir) Angelucci

By Administrator

What years were you at camp:

I worked at EKC from 2002-2009. I served as a Counselor (Halutzim and Teen), Unit Head (Halutzim and Teen), Programming Coordinator, and CIT Supervisor. My oldest daughter started attending camp in 2021, and my middle daughter attended for the first time this summer (2024).

What does EKC mean to you and your family?

Camp has always been my happy place, and I am so grateful for the lifelong friends that I made while working there. I had so many leadership opportunities and experiences at camp that helped me get where I am today. Now I get to see camp through my daughters’ eyes, and nothing is better! It is so special to see them make their own lifelong friends and love camp in their own way.

Please share a favorite memory from camp:

Getting the opportunity to travel to Israel with the CITs in 2009 was an experience I will never forget. That was my first (and so far only) trip to Israel, and I don’t know if I would have gone to Israel had it not been for camp. It was a trip filled with fun memories and learning experiences, and I am forever thankful to EKC for giving me the chance to go!

What are you doing now?

I currently live in Lexington, KY, with my husband, Dave, and 3 daughters – Paige (10), Leah (7), and Sophie (3). I am the Principal of an Elementary School here in Lexington and also serve on the Board of the Jewish Federation of the Bluegrass. I love any chance I get to reconnect with camp friends and the short glimpses I get of EKC at camp drop-off and pick-up 🙂
