Suggested Packing Guide for EKC Family Retreats

FAQs: Click HERE

Below is a suggested packing list for you to consider as you pack for your Retreat Weekend. It’s not a complete or perfect list – and there’s a Wal-Mart/ Target not too far from Camp, if you forget something at home.

West Virginia weather can fluctuate quite a bit during the summer months. Average temperatures are 72 – 80 degrees during the day and 60 – 65 degrees at night. Temperatures can reach the high 90’s during the day and can drop to the low 50’s at night. We suggest reviewing the forecast in advance and to pack accordingly.

You should plan on packing enough clothing for the entirety of your stay without doing any laundry (unless you are staying in the new housing, where there is a washer and dryer).

Suggested Clothing

  • Shorts/pants, shirts, weather appropriate attire, etc.… (clothes you can get dirty!)
  • Bathing suit
  • Flip flops/ Sneakers
  • Rain Boots (optional)
  • Rain Coat
  • Hat
  • White clothing for Shabbat (It’s an EKC tradition!)
  • Sweat shirt/ sweat pants (for when it cools down at night)

Linens/ Toiletries

  • Bed sheets, blankets, pillows etc.
    • Cabins/Beit – All beds are Twin/Cot
    • New Housing – 1 Queen bed and 2 full beds
    • Old Doctor’s House – 1 Queen bed and 1 twin sized bunk bed.
  • Bath Towels/ Beach Towels
  • Toiletries – soap, shampoo, deodorant, tooth brush, tooth paste etc.

Miscellaneous

  • Water bottle!
  • Flashlight
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellant
  • Board Games for family fun!
  • Books
  • Fans (if you are staying in a cabin)
  • Folding Chairs

EKC will provide a “grab and go” snack available every day from 2:00-3:00pm in the Dining Hall. If you bring your own snacks, we suggest not bringing anything that would melt if it were left in a cabin.

Alcohol is BYOB and restricted to your unit of residence. Please drink responsibly!
